Jock itch remedy

Creams or lotions can represent a jock itch remedy. They work best for the case of jock itch than sprays. In severe or persistent cases, your doctor may prescribe stronger creams or oral medication. Use your prescription for as long as your doctor recommends. This jock itch will help prevent rash reccurrence. If it does not improve during the first month of treatment, contact your doctor.

Creams

Antifungal creams are used for jock itch include:

•    Miconazole

•     Clotrimazole

•     Econazole

•     Oxiconazole nitrate

•    Ketoconazole

•     Terbinafine

•     Tolnaftate

•     Ciclopirox

•     Haloprogin

•     Naftifine

•     Undecylenic acid

Although these drugs can effectively treat jock itch, terbinafine offers a faster cure than others. It is also considerably more expensive than most of the drugs listed above. Tolnaftate and undecylenic acid may be less effective than other drugs on the list, but are cheaper. The creams are usually applied daily one or twice per day for 2-4 weeks. Follow the package instructions or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
Do not use antifungal creams recommended specifically for athlete's foot. They may be too harsh for the groin. In some cases, antifungal creams you can buy without a prescription can not work or effectively treat the rash. In these cases, your doctor may prescribe a stronger antifungal cream.

Oral Medications

If your jock itch rash begins to ooze, call your doctor. This may indicate that the rash may be secondarily infected with bacteria. If your doctor confirms it, antibiotics may be a jock itch remedy.
Tea tree oil or bath with salt are also a jock itch remedy.
